Lemon of the year:

 

Nominees: 

  • A mi madre le gustan las mujeres (Spain 01)
  • Bewitched (US 05)
  • Bridget Jones – the Edge of Reason  (GB 04)
  • Kasbah (Spain/Argentina 00)
  • The Life Aquatic (US 04)

 

Perhaps none of these is absolutely catastrophic but they all fell short of what they purported to be.  Unconvincing maternal lesbianism, daughterly jealousy and concert pianists, an attempt to revive a 60’s sitcom, the tedium of the sequel of the girl who can’t find a fiancé, delirium in the Moroccan desert and delirium in the Mediterranean in a blend of Jacques Cousteau with pirates and finding one’s family.

 

Winner:  Comment – What was the point?

Wes Anderson’s humour simply fails to justify this enormous waste of money and talent.  Ego trip!!!
