What a difficult category to judge this year!  No stand outs – simply a bunch of very competent actresses in a variety of interesting roles. 

Winner  Maggie Smith

This might not be her most famous or best role but Maggie Smith is quite clearly the focus in all her scenes and pulls off her comedic role as a housekeeper with a criminal past with such style and aplomb.  A veritable great of the screen.
