Mon petit doigt a dit ...

French version of Agatha Christie novel.  First question.  Do the French have the same sort of eccentrics in their countryside as the Brits of murder mystery fame do?  Because this film has its fair share of weirdos and it does rather seem that they frenchified the British text leaving in all the mad characters.  This is a perfect rainy day film, not to be taken too seriously with its gallic whimsy.  Basically you could pick holes in several plot developments but as entertainment it works well enough.  Andre Dussollier and Catherine Frot play the main parts with Frot as Prudence being a particularly odd character.  The secondary roles are more interesting with Laurent Terzieff a sinister lawyer, Genevieve Bujold showing her age but doing well as the old mad woman and a very unglamorous Valerie Kaprisky as the local churchwarden.http://img157.imageshack.us/img157/5229/doigt18iw.jpg  The other feature is the landscape and photography of the Savoie region.  All light and breezy.
