Mrs Henderson Presents
Maybe I am getting cynical but there wasn’t much in this film to write home about. It is simply a very competent British period piece with abundant humour, slick musical numbers and a stirring personal message which although very neatly done failed to move me. I feel I’ve seen it all before.
Judi Dench is fine in the lead role
which is a brilliantly written part and suits her perfectly. Bob Hoskins does better than I expected as Vivian Van Dam.
Will Young is very camp as the lead singer but has some good tonsils and Kelly Reilly who is popping up everywhere these days is also getting better (could it be the direction?).
So, if you are in the mood for a light predictable, rather airbrushed piece of history this film will do it for you.
