Shadows
La vereda de la sombra
This Argentine documentary is about the life and early demise of television journalist Fabián Polosecky
who was the first TV interviewer to go into poor areas, to the workplace and to the edges of society to really get to know the lives of people in thos places. His ability to listen and to ask intuitive questions as well as his uncanny skill at blending into the scene so that his interviewees felt comfortable with him and told all made him a star of Argentine TV, albeit briefly, and paved the way for future journalists and presenters to do the same thing. The work drained him somewhat and his failure to get new projects off the ground eventually led him to commit suicide and lead to something of a myth around his person. The documentary uses much old television and video footage, interviews family, friends and colleagues and gives us some idea of the man without actually revealing all. It is an interesting collage of the man, respectfully put together and flows in chronological order for those who were not around in the early 90`s here to witness it all.
